An assembly showing how sport can be used to promote peace.
As people have returned to their villages at the end of the civil war in Sierra Leone, they have not only have to rebuild their homes and livlihoods, they have also had to learn how to get on with each other again. For Sallu and Aminata Manah, the Peace Club at their school has helped with this. Using sports and other team activities, the club aims to show young people alternative ways of resolving difficult issues.
As one of the aims of the olympics is to bring 'people together in peace', this assembly and accompanying PowerPoint presentation uses the theme of the forthcoming games to explain how Christian Aid and its partner the Methodist Church of Sierra Leone are supporting the Peace Clubs.
