Learning objectives

Through this unit, students learn to:

• look at and respond to our world

• learn about caring for our world

• identify feelings that humans have towards families, animals and the world around them.

Activities

Ask students to:

• observe the local environment and discuss findings

• plant bulbs and seeds, and discuss how and why to care for the growing plants

• explore feelings about litter and decide on a personal response to it

• learn about and learn from religious stories which describe caring for people and animals, such as the story of St Francis and the Wolf, Siddarta and the Swan, and Three Dates (see details below)

• develop a practical response to a situation of environmental concern, either local or further afield.
