Have you ever had to flee from your home in a hurry?
Around the world, many people are on the move. Some are travelling for holidays or for work. Some are seeking to start a new life somewhere else. And some are forced to move - running away because their lives are in danger.
Thankfully, for most of us in the UK and Ireland, our homes are a place of safety and security. However, millions of people around the world have to leave their homes, villages and sometimes their country because of war or environmental disaster.
This assembly uses case studies from Angloa, Bangladesh and Burma to explore some of the reasons that force people to become refugees. With an accompanying Powerpoint presentation it aims to help pupils empathise with the situation of people who have to leave their homes.
This is an ideal resource to use during Refugee Week which runs from 16 to 22 June 2008.
