What does it mean to be malnourished? This World Food Day (16 October 2011), help your school reflect on the current food crisis in east Africa and understand the ongoing problem of food insecurity around the world.
In east Africa, more than 12 million people are affected by food shortages caused by the worst drought in the region for 60 years. Meet Elema from Kenya, a widow with six children. If the drought continues, she won't be able to afford to send her children to school.
We also meet Evelin and Jacqueline from Guatemala, where nearly half of all children under five suffer from malnutrition.
This resource features an assembly presentation and plan, including a reflection and action points.
