Bring me sunshine: solar power assembly
Theme: Solar power
Country: Tajikistan, Mali, Burkina Faso, Britain and Ireland

We all depend on the sun! Use this secondary assembly to help students understand how solar energy works and excite young people about the potential for cleaner and greener energy.

Explore how solar power is benefiting people around the world, from Tajikistan, to Mali, to right back here in the UK.

Meet Mathura from Tajikistan, where electricity is only available in the morning and evening for many people. Solar power and an energy-efficient stove have made a big difference to life for Mathura and her school friends.

'I always come to school, even in winter. We often don't have electricity. In winter our classroom was heated with a small wood stove but we still had to wear our coats and hats in the classroom.'
