Sport and peace: social impact of sport
Theme: sport
Country: Sudan, South Sudan
Three boys in football kit

Sporting events are taking place all over the UK this summer. Use this secondary assembly to help your class reflect on the wider benefits of sport around the world and how it can help build peace and challenge stereotypes.

Our assembly and presentation focuses on sport in South Sudan, eastern Africa. Where sport has helped people build peace and recover from decades of civil war.

In South Sudan, games have brought different people together in the spirit of peace and friendship. And the tradition of using sport to promote peace goes back a very long way - right to the time of the Ancient Greeks.

Download your 'Sport and peace' assembly plan and presentation from the resource box on the right.
