Elliot shows us how to rock the boat!
Elliot Watson spent an entire day travelling backwards and forwards between Bolton and Preston on a bus. Why?!
All in the name of Christian Aid of course!
Elliot was inspired to put on this innovative fundraiser after taking part in Rock the Boat - a barge trip organised by Christian Aid's team in the North West.
Becky and Dave - the youth co-ordinators in the North West team - were in need of a unique and inspiring way to tell young people about the work of Christian Aid.
So they borrowed a canal boat, recruited some young people and set sail in search of justice!
After a fun filled week on the boat the young people were challenged to take £5 and multiply it. In total these talented young people raised over £1000 for Christian Aid.
Some made greetings cards and cakes, while Elliot decided that his money would be best spent on bus fare!
Elliot was sponsored to ride the bus from early morning until late evening.
Along the way he spoke to fellow passengers about Christian Aid and in total he raised almost £450!
Dave and Becky were so pleased with Rock the Boat that they are planning to set sail again.
Becky says: 'we wanted to inspire and equip young people to be advocates for Christian Aid in their communities and that is exactly what they have done. The example of Elliot and the others who joined us to 'rock the boat' show how great it is when young people are equiped to tell their friends and their communties about the problems in the world and how to do something about them.'
